This year, Gov. Mills supported significant investments in affordable housing, education and protections to the right to an abortion, among other important bills.

Unfortunately, she chose to veto two bills that would have helped to address several systemic racial inequalities in our state, and to establish a major corporate subsidy which will cost the state tens of millions of dollars per year that could be used to directly address Mainers’ needs.

Mills was, however, moved by a major signature campaign to sign into law a bill creating a strong paid family and medical leave plan for Maine workers. Read more about our takeaways here.
