What is the bill

This bill gives teachers the right to negotiate over working conditions in their contracts.

Why it matters

Teachers work tirelessly for their students. Oftentimes the balance of power is skewed against them when it comes to control over their own schedules, and this bill would have tipped the scales back just a little.

What happened

The bill was vetoed by the Governor and died after failing to garner the 2/3rds votes necessary to override the veto in the Senate.
