Vote to kill LD 1365, which would have required voters to present an approved form of photograph voter identification in order to vote. On this scorecard, a vote against this roll call is a vote for the Voter ID law.
Voter ID laws and the rhetoric that surrounds them are deliberately designed to undermine trust in elections and suppress the vote. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, “as many as 11% of eligible voters do not have the kind of ID that is required by states with strict ID requirements, and that percentage is even higher among seniors, minorities, people with disabilities, low-income voters, and students.”
In party-line votes, both the House and Senate rejected Rep. Paul’s measure. Now she and Minority Leader Billy Bob Faulkinham are attempting to put it on the ballot in 2024.
